Systems thinking is thinking in terms of patterns of relations, of the dynamics of the wider system and organisation or community. Reality is more than we directly observe in an organisation or community. Consequences for a LSI-process are:

• Past, present and future of "the system" are explored, as well as trends and outside influences(global exploration before local action)
• Stakeholders are identified and invited in a rich diversity and variety to participate in the process (getting the whole system in the room)
• Focus on dynamic patterns instead of linear causal relations.

The change process shifts from incremental change to fundamental, organisation wide change.
